IT IS OKAY TO CRY

“you don’t sound okay”

“yeah, I was crying...I feel stressed from school and I miss my friend”

“Come on, you are not a baby. Stop that nonsense”

********call ended*********

Who said it is not okay to cry?

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.”
– Washington Irving

“...tears are words waiting to be written.”
 – Paulo Coelho

I am an emotional person, and when I was younger I could cry even when my emotions were hurt a little bit. My eyes would water at the least startle or rebuke.
I am grown and now I try to hide emotions because most times, people think one should “man up” and not be a “baby”.

Yesterday, I watched the movie “broken”, there were lots of comments from people saying they cried, I just laughed and said to myself, “it’s just a movie, it’s not that deep”.
I have to confess, it got to a point where I stood and raised my head up just so the tears will sink back in my eyes and not fall. At some point, I let go.
The beautiful thing about crying is, it relieves that stress and it is easier to get over the hurt.
Did you know crying has health benefits?
Anyway, I am ranting away but I just want to say it’s okay to cry.

When you are alone and you crave for companionship,
It is okay to cry.

When you are broken and hurting with so much pain,
It is okay to cry.

When you are in a state of confusion and you are clueless,
It is okay to cry.

When you are going through a tough phase of life, especially alone,
It is okay to cry.

When you lose something or someone special, be it in death or in mere absence,
It is okay to cry.

When you miss a friend,
It is okay to cry.

When you are sympathising with a friend in a painful moment,
It is okay to cry.

When you are being silenced, and you end up biting your tongue,
It is okay to cry.

When you are pressed with so much worries and burden,
It is okay to cry.

When you are on your knees in prayer and lost for words,
It is okay to cry.

When you receive a miracle,
It is okay to cry.

When you are so happy and you cannot hold in the happiness,
It is okay to cry.

When you climb a mountain, get to the top and feel the breeze,
It is okay to cry.

When you are listening to an audio that speaks to your soul,
It is okay to cry.

When you see something beautiful,
It is okay to cry.

When you find the ONE that makes you glow,
It is okay to cry.

When you are trying to win back what you lost,
It is okay to cry.

When you realize someone has stolen the food you hid in the fridge,
It is okay to cry.

Whenever it is, and you just need to let your feelings out without words, just cry.

It is okay to cry.
